The city council is so sure of the mermaid’s presence that they’re offering one million (American) to anyone who can prove her existence. No need to physically capture her, just snap a believable photo. There’s been a lot of speculation that Krivat Yam’s mermaid is merely a publicity stunt to bring in tourists, but the council’s spokesman, Mr Zilberman, denies all accusations.

When I coughed up the money to make a call to the council, Mr Zilberman was out of the office (just my luck right?) but his representatives told me that no evidence has been brought in yet and the reward is still up for grabs. They also informed me, and made it very clear, that their mermaid isn’t something they made up just to bring people to their town.

They seemed pretty convincing that there’s a mermaid in the waters just waiting to be photographed.

A case of deviant teens buying halloween lenses or something more? The first, and probably best known encounter, started in 1998. Story goes that a one Mr. Bethel had just parked his car to pay some bills when two boys approached and asked for a ride back home. Seems like a pretty normal occurrence, except for the fact that both their eyes were entirely black. That and something about the way the older one spoke chilled him to the core. Bethel was horrified to discover that he’d unconsciously began to reach for the door to unlock it and that was before he’d noticed the eyes. Continuing to pester Bethel into letting them in, it wasn’t until they made eye contact did he realize something wasn’t right and drove away before he could let them in.

Since then, stories of these demonic children have been spreading over the internet in a silent frenzy. Most of these BEK’s appear somewhere between the South and Mid West of the US. It’s night when they approach asking to be let into your house to use the phone, or wanting a ride back home to their mother (or any similar story). Anyone who has ever had the opportunity to meet one of them, and survive, claim that there’s a feeling of fear and uneasiness. There have been no documented accounts of anyone letting one of them inside.

Go online and look up speciality contact lenses and soon you could be the owner of a pair of blackout eyes for a fancy price, but I was able meet up with a woman who claims to have had a brief encounter with a group of them. She swears that there weren’t any sort of contacts involved, but what she witnessed was pure evil.

Danielle, as we’ll call her since she refused to give me a name to call her by, (Almost all witnesses with the BEK have refused to give their names. Any particular reason why that is?) came home from work after a long night shift only to discover a trio of teenagers standing just outside her front gate. A little unnerved, she didn’t think anything of it until she got to her door and felt them directly behind her. Sure enough, when she turned around, they were just below her porch stairs. She tells me that the older of the children claimed they were lost and needed a phone to call their family.

“Even in the dim light I could tell something was wrong with their eyes; they had no iris’s,” Danielle recalls, “the way the teen’s voice sounded when he wanted to use my phone was aged beyond years and I knew right then that these kids weren’t normal.”

Without saying anything, Danielle ignored the boys, despite their constant pleas of needing a way home, and saw in horror as they had began to climb the stairs after her. Closing the door, she hears the elder one’s voice becoming more demanding, even threatening, but her instincts tell her to lock the door and back away. Even with the door closed the teens continued to pester her for minutes until, finally, they went away.

“If I didn’t sense there was something wrong with them, I’m afraid to find out what would’ve happened if I let them in.”

Prank or not, I still wouldn’t let those kids in my house, but I’d seriously think about staying at a friend’s place if I were you.

Much like the Loch Ness monster, there’s the legend of the Chupacabra.

Now John Adolfi from Phoenix says he may have proof, “This chupacapra was found in Blanco, Texas, it was preserved, it was taxidermied immediately, it is in perfect condition.“

After viewing the video it does not seem to be doctored in anyway but could possibly be just some sort of weather pattern or anomaly. I believe this might be the first for this type of cloud anomaly, can anyone disprove this?

On Sept 29th, I was out walking and found this burnt dollar in the grass. Being a loyal Coast to Coast listener, I wondered what this could mean (no coincidences). As we looked for signs embedded in the burnt dollar, my nephew pointed out the words, “The Great Sea”. It occurred to me that Edgar Cayce predicted flooding of the coasts worldwide to begin in 1998. Nostradamus also predicted earth changes that included a great flood, as did Leonardo DaVinci (History Channel – Nostradamus Effect).

Samoa had just been hit by a tsunami that day as it swept over this South Pacific Island. The tsunami had been triggered by a magnitude 8.3 earthquake. The next day, Wednesday Sept 30th, Southern Sumatra, Indonesia, was hit by a 7.6 earthquake which struck “some 55 miles under the sea,” and again Thursday Oct 1st, by a 6.6 magnitude earthquake. And let’s not forget the great “undersea mega thrust earthquake” out in the Indian Ocean that triggered massive tsunami’ waves 100 feet high that killed 230,000 in December 2004. This 9.1 earthquake lasted about 10 minutes and caused the whole earth to vibrate, triggering other earthquakes as far away as Alaska.

Does this burnt dollar warn of more to come? On the flip side (even jutting out some) is the word “ERICA”. I can’t help but wonder if this could be the name of a great hurricane to come.

Animal Planet (of all channels?) is showing a new season of the 30 minute series called “Lost Tapes”. Think of the hand-held camera bits of FreakyLinks mixed in with the documentary style of The Blair Witch Project or Curse of the Blair Witch and you’ve got “Lost Tapes”.

The second season premieres tonight, Tuesday Sept. 29th, with two new episodes but showed four back-to-back episodes from season 1 on Sunday. The titles to the episodes I’ve seen so far are:

Cave Demons, which follows an Army unit into the caves of Afghanistan to have a close encounter with giant bats.

Death Raptor, where a group of amateur paranormal investigators hunt the Owl Man, a distant cousin of the Mothman.

Oklahoma Octopus, which to me feels the most FreakyLinks, where a group of teens decide a day at the lake is the right way to spend time together before going their separate ways before college. Unexpected tentacle attacks weren’t what they bargained for.

And Chupacabra where border patrolmen tangle with what may well be the mythical creature. I was solidly entertained by all four episodes.

Tonight’s new season 2 episodes are Vampire and Lizard Man.

I suppose my one complaint is that the shaky cam in some sequences can be way too shaky in spots, nowhere near the masters of the art like our Haxan bred material.

That aside, I’m sorry I missed the first season and honestly can’t wait to see what other shaky cam filmed monsters they’re got in store for us! Watch if you can.

That is the most disappointing show!

Each episode takes an hour of your life, which equals 35 minutes of content if you subtract commercials and extensive recaps, and totally blows that time by looking for something and building up suspense but never paying off. It looks like at least one of these things they’re searching for is actually out there and after the extensive efforts they’ve put forth they could catch it on film, but Noooo, they’d rather waste my time.

So the first one I thankfully catch the tail end of is “Flying Humanoid”. Flying objects caught on film that may or may not be a flying humanoid or it could just be a cluster of balloons. Right.

So the promos for the next show look good and I move on to “Chimps in the Wilds of the US”. This immediately has my mind go back to this.

So the evidence is compelling, the theory of chimps escaping to or being set loose in the wilds of Florida or California seems plausible. Eyewitnesses that thought they saw a chimp in the wild, and different chimp experts are brought in and interviewed. The whole thing seems to be building to something. We even see a computer model of the best possible habitat for chimps in Florida cross-referenced with chimp habitats in Africa. They even stake the whole place out with night vision camera equipment.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. End of show.

Next up was “Giant Sharks”. Supposedly this JAWS-like shark is terrorizing the Baja / Gulf of California area. I watch snippets until it builds toward the end. We’re talking helicopters, speedboats, sophisticated scuba equipment and—– they find a 16ft. whale shark that is generally harmless and by no means the killer JAWS-like shark they’re looking for. Wow!

The next one is “Black Panthers” that stalk the New York state area. I decide to do something else until the last 10 minutes of the program. More expensive methods to try to find one. More eyewitnesses and experts. This time we actually get a tree that one may have used as a scratching post and a compelling paw print in the mud—– and that’s it. Once again, wow!

Ya know for all their obvious budget and time spent on the effort, you’d think they’d come up with a way to not build you up so badly then let you down with a huge crash.

Good God I miss “In Search of”! That show knew how to keep you interested and did it all in 25 minutes. No wonder it lasted for as many seasons as it did. Here’s a slice of nostalgia for those that fondly remember the series or have yet to discover it’s ’70s greatness.
